The Analysis ToolPak is an add-in program that adds advanced statistical functions to Excel, such as variance, correlation, frequency and sampling analysis. Although this program is loaded onto computers as part of an overall Microsoft Office installation, it is not immediately available in Excel, and you must manually load it from the application before you can use it.

Step 1

Open the worksheet in which you want to use the Analysis ToolPak, or create a new worksheet. Click the 'File' tab on the top menu and click 'Options.'

Step 2

Click 'Add-Ins' on the side menu in the Options window. Click 'Go' in the Manage area at the bottom of the main screen to open the Add-Ins menu.

Step 3

Check the box next to 'Analysis ToolPak' and click 'OK.' If you cannot see the ToolPak listed in the menu, select 'Browse' to find it. Click 'Yes' if a message asks if you want to install it onto your computer.

Step 4

Click the 'Data' tab on your worksheet. If the ToolPak has been successfully added, you'll see a Data Analysis option in the Analysis group.

Tips

  • You can also add Visual Basic functions to the Analysis ToolPak. To do this, select 'Analysis ToolPak - VBA' from the Add-Ins menu when you add the Analysis ToolPak.

Warnings

  • These instructions are based on Excel 2013. The process to load the add-in onto previous versions of Excel may be different.
  • The Analysis ToolPak cannot be added to a Windows RT PC.

The regression tool worked once...then wouldn't work. I deleted the add on, and re added it. It again worked one time, then stopped. I guess it is a one use application? I tried deleting and re-adding again, but it didn't work. I had to dust off a copy of Excel 2007. Please make this work so I can leave Microsoft forever.

Topically it looks exactly like what I need, but it doesn't seem to be appearing. Is there not yet support for the new Google Drive or should that not stop it from working?EDIT: I guess the new google sheets isnt the problem. I have no idea why this isn't working for me. Tried on other computers as well, same result. Add on is completely blank. Could use some support.

Attempted to use the regression tool multiple times yet it never once worked. I uninstalled and reinstalled multiple times and it never output any results or any indication that an error occurred.

Linear Regression formula does not always calculate as commanded. I've checked and rechecked, and this is not the result of user error.

I used for linear regression, it seemed to work a couple of times but it was always super slow then it stopped working altogether and I don't know why.

I'm using xlminer for multi-variable linear regression. The tool doesn't provide any feedback to indicate whether it is calculating or doing nothing, making the tool very difficult to work with. For example, if I change something and want to re-calcuate, do I need to close the side bar and restart the tool from scratch? Because I can't tell if clicking on the 'ok' button is just really slow or isn't doing anything at all.Also, the tool is very slow. I'm working on less than 150 rows.
